Learn the deep sea through play
Eight short browser games about the abyssal plain and the machines proposed to mine it — dive it, drive it, run the operation, weigh the tradeoffs, or follow a single nodule. No downloads, no accounts — just the science, made playable. Each one ends with what the evidence actually says.
Abyss Descent
Start at the surface and work your way down. Pilot a collector ROV 5,000 m through the water column to the nodule field — log species, survey every depth zone, then run the collector and keep your stewardship grade high.
Plume Runner
Drive the collector across the nodule field and rake battery metals — but the sediment plume you kick up drifts downcurrent and becomes your own obstacle. Carve clean lines, stack a recovery streak, beat your best.
Survey Block Command
Command three specialised rovers across a survey block: scout the seabed, recover only what you have surveyed, and lift it to the surface vessel before the buffer stalls. Sequence the fleet and clear a five-block campaign.
Policymaker Dashboard
Set the royalty rate, protected area, monitoring spend, and where processed water returns — and watch revenue, the community fund, stewardship, and public approval respond. Find the balance where no pillar collapses.
Nodule's Journey
Follow one nodule from its formation around a shark tooth, through the deep-sea life that makes it home, to extraction and the plume it leaves behind — a short, visual walk through the whole story.
Nodule Venture
Run American Sāmoa's deep-sea mining venture for ten quarters. Buy rovers, sell nickel and cobalt into a swinging market, share the royalties, and keep your stewardship grade alive — profit, community and the seafloor can't all win at once.
All facts in these games are drawn from the platform's species and evidence base.
