Last updated 17 September 2026
1. Purpose of the site
The site explains deep sea mining and the process underway near American Sāmoa so that residents can follow it and take part in public consultation. It is provided for general information and education.
2. Not legal, financial or scientific advice
We work to keep the content accurate, cite its sources, and correct errors when we find them. Even so, the information is general. It is not legal, financial, environmental or scientific advice, and it does not replace official notices, regulations or decisions published by the responsible government agencies. Where the site and an official document differ, the official document governs.
3. Games, 3D scenes and simulations
The games, 3D seabed scenes and interactive tools are simplified teaching aids. They illustrate ideas and are not models of any real or planned operation, and their results should not be relied on as predictions.
4. Links to other websites
The site links to reports, videos and websites run by other organisations. We link to them for reference; we do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
5. Using our content
You may view, download, print and share material from this site for personal, educational and non-commercial purposes, provided you credit the American Sāmoa Government and do not alter it in a way that misrepresents it. Some material, including photographs, videos, reports and logos, belongs to third parties and remains subject to their own terms. Government seals and emblems may not be used to imply official endorsement.

7. Messages and submissions
When you send us a message or sign up for updates, you confirm that the information you give is accurate. We handle it as described in our Privacy Policy. Messages sent through this site may be subject to public records laws.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove content and features at any time.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the site is provided “as is” and the American Sāmoa Government is not liable for any loss arising from your use of it or reliance on its content.
