Privacy Policy
You can read everything on this site without telling us who you are. We only collect personal information when you choose to give it to us, and we use it only for the reason you gave it.
Last updated 28 September 2026
1. Information you give us
- Update signups. If you sign up to hear when new features open, we keep your email address and your language preference.
- Contact form. If you send us a message, we keep your name, email address, subject and message so we can reply.
- Partner and staff accounts. Outreach partners and site staff who are given an account have their name, email address and sign-in details stored so they can log in.
2. How we use it
We use this information to reply to you, to send the updates you asked for, and to run the accounts described above. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Cookies and local storage
The site does not use advertising cookies. It uses a small number of essential ones:
- a sign-in cookie for partner and staff accounts, and for any password-protected preview of the site;
- your language choice (English or Sāmoan), saved in your own browser so the site remembers it.
It also uses Google Analytics cookies to count visits, and the feedback button keeps an ID in your browser to link your messages. Both are described in section 4.
4. Services that help run the site
Some information passes through service providers that host or deliver parts of the site. They process it on our behalf:
- Hetzner Online GmbH, which provides the server that hosts the website and its database;
- Bunny.net, which delivers images, videos and documents;
- ZeptoMail, which delivers the emails the site sends;
- YouTube, whose videos are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may set its own cookies once you press play; its privacy policy applies to that;
- Google Analytics, which tells us how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly which country and type of device they use. It sets its own cookies to tell visits apart. We see only totals, never your name or email address, and we do not use it for advertising. Google's privacy policy applies, and you can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
- Gleap, which runs the feedback button on each page. If you send feedback or report a problem, Gleap receives what you write, any email address you give, and technical details such as the page address and your browser, and may include a screenshot of the page. Its privacy policy applies.
Like most websites, these services may record technical information such as your IP address and browser type in their logs to keep the site secure and working.
5. How long we keep it
We keep signups until you ask to be removed or the updates stop, and contact messages for as long as needed to respond and to meet government record-keeping obligations.
6. Public records
This is a government website. Messages and information you send us may be subject to public records laws of American Sāmoa.
7. Children
The site is suitable for students. We do not knowingly ask children to submit personal information; teachers and parents are welcome to contact us on their behalf.
8. Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to remove you from updates, through our contact form or by writing to deepseainfo@go.as.gov.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. See also our Terms of Use.
